Mongolia's Nomadic has no doubt had a huge affect on its music
Mongolia's cultures affect on its music
It is unquestionable that Mongolia's nomadic lifestyle and idolism of the horse has been reflected back into the countries music. Upbeat and vibrant songs have been passed down generations, especially in modern day nomadic communties, and still to date, help wear away the hours with music.
Songs like the Tuuli Duu, meaning heroic epic songs, sung before huntings or between shepherds, when watching over herds are distinctly related to the nomadic culture. When moving to pasture to pasture something has to be done through the numerous hours, and music is a simple a solution. This could be the reason for the rough sound of many Mongolian songs, because of the persons over history singing it.
Songs that are storylike in manor, like the epic song also acted as a way to pass down legends and history through generations in nomadic communities, because of the lack of a formal way to right them down, or express in any other way. Because Nomads lived and still live today very free and spiratic lifestyles, songs were and still are ways to share and remember stories traditions, legends, and to express gratitude. |
