History's influence on Mongolian Music
Mongolian music has a diverse and beautiful sound that varies in every remote area of the country. The brutal, and rough yet energized and upbeat qualities of Mongolian music has been built through its unique history.
Genghis Khan and Music The first time Mongolia united as a nation was under Genghis Khan's rule, so it makes sense that that was also the first time royalty needed entertainment as well. Instruments like the twelve stringed Yagta, among other instruments were only played by and for those of high stature.

Post-Yuan Dynasty music After the Yuan Dynasty Mongolia went back to its state from before Genghis Khan's rule. Of course the nomadic culture was maintained, but war broke out throughout many of the clans. Songs like the Tuuli again were very common, along with other oral traditions and stories retelling great battles.

Warfare and Music Mongolian history is full of battles and warfare, and the music reflects this. Songs like the Tuuli, that were sung before battles, and told stories of forces of good and evil, are majorly affected by Mongolian history.
