Besides history and culture there are few other infuences on Mongolian music
Other Influences
As a nomadic culture, with a history of war and destruction, musicians were never popularized. Music was played by individuals in villages and because of the isolation of different clans and village artists that were truly exceptional remained within their clan. Simply put, Mongolian history and culture did not allow for the creation of musical sensations, rather music was an oral tradition backed by instruments. The only other influence facing Monglian music would be economic influences.
Economics The economy of the Mongols was mainly based off animal husbandry and trading throughout dominated lands during the time of Genghis Khan. The famous Silk Road route was created during his reign in order to maintain trading and merchant routes. Many battles were fought between merchants and thieves, so Genghis setup a system to protect merchants. Many camps and gangs were used to protect merchants.

Economics and music With the growth of the Mongolian Empire, it allowed for the elite of the society to host many events. Parties were held on the birthday of every one of Genghis Khan's children's birthday which contained over forty five sons alone. Parties were held as festivals, no doubt featuring a variety of musical events and story sharing. The twelve stringed Yatga, was specifically created for use at court, and only played by the elite.
